The Fear of being Alone
We ordered up 1 more bottle of wine, you told me your story and I thought about mine.
You said when you lost her, you lost everything, it all started having a familiar ring.
So I asked you to take me to some place quiet-we wound up at the river for the rest of the night. Somewhere around the break of day, I could hear it comin' from a mile away.
So don't say that word not the 1 we've both heard too much, you make think you do, but you don't. It's just the fear of bein' alone.
Reckless hearts can clear a path, wider than a hurricane's after math.
We've both traveled down that rode, where in the name of love-anything goes.
So don't say that word not the 1 we've both heard too much, you make think you do, but you don't. It's just the fear of bein' alone.
Like a child, in the night with no one to hold you and tell you everything's gonna be alright.
I must admit, it's been fun, but that's no reason to jump the gun.
If this is real, time will tell, so let me bite my tongue and remind myself...
So don't say that word not the 1 we've both heard too much, you make think you do, but you don't. It's just the fear of bein' alone. |

The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia
He was on his way home from Candletop,
Been two weeks gone and he thought he'd stop
At Web's and have him a drink 'for he went home to her.
Andy Wo-Lo said hello
He said, "Hi what's doing"
Wo said, "Sit down I got some bad news that's gonna hurt."
Said I'm your best friend and you know that's right
But your young bride ain't home tonight
Since you been gone she's been seein' that Amos boy, Seth
Now he got mad and he saw red
Andy said boy doncha lose your head
Cause to tell you the truth, I've been with her myself..
That's the night that the lights went out in Georgia
That's the night that they hung an innocent man
Don't trust your soul to no back woods Southern lawyer
Cause the judge in the town's got blood stains on his hands
Andy got scared and left the bar
Walkin' on home cause he didn't live far
Andy didn't have many friends and he just lost him one
Brother thought his wife must've left town
So he went home and finally found the only thing Daddy had left him and that was a gun
He went off to Andy's house
Slipping through the back woods quiet as a mouse
Came upon some tracks to small for Andy to make
He looked through the screen at the back porch door
He saw Andy lyin' on the floor
In a puddle of blood and he started to shake
The Georgia patrol was makin' their rounds
So he fired a shot just to flag 'em down
And a big bellied sherriff grabbed his gun and said
"Why'd ya do it?"
The judge said guilty on a make-believe trail
Slapped the sherriff on the back with a smile and said
"Supper's waitin' at home and I gotta get to it."
That's the night that the lights went out in Georgia
That's the night that they hung an innocent man
Don't trust your soul to no back woods Southern lawyer
Cause the judge in the town's got blood stains on his hands
They hung my brother before I could say
The tracks he saw while on his way
To Andy's house and back that night were mine
And his cheatin' wife never left town
That's one body that'll never be found
You see little sister don't miss when she aims her gun...
That's the night that the lights went out in Georgia
That's the night that they hung an innocent man
Don't trust your soul to no back woods Southern lawyer
Cause the judge in the town's got blood stains on his hands...

Homeland
I vow to you, my country, all earthly things above,
Entire and whole and perfect, the service of my love
The love that asks no questions, the love that stands the test,
That lays upon the altar the dearest and the best;
The love that never falters, the love that pays the price.
The love that makes undaunted the final sacrifice.
Though the rode has bends and turns, and my spirit suffers,
Humans fail, systems fail, shadows fall.
But the ruts run deep, cut by the blood of faces above,
And the voices nowsilent,
But the message loud is heard:
"Homeland! Homeland,
Renew your youth, restore your soul!"
Homeland, the country I love, hold out your arms to me
I strive for you, and give you the best I hope to be.
May your wisdom be your armour, your compassion be yoursword;
May your strength be forged with mercy, your courage lives* restore.
Homeland, the country that I love, forever reign supreme;
And when the time stands still, my homeland, may heaven hold your dream.
My homeland, be my dream, my hope,
Homeland, Homeland!
